EIGHT DIMENSIONS
WHAT WE EVALUATE
—
Our evaluation is not a checklist—it's a holistic assessment conducted by experienced researchers with backgrounds in museum practice, collecting, and market analysis. We don't just verify what artists present; we uncover what they may not know about their own trajectory. This process ensures that when we surface an artist to collectors or institutions, they are genuinely ready.
+10 HOURS
PORTFOLIO SUBSTANTIATION
We analyze stylistic evolution, technical command, material integrity, and conceptual depth. We identify "heat"—the intangible quality collectors seek—even when the artist themselves may not recognize it.
+6 HOURS
EXHIBITION HISTORY VERIFICATION
We trace every listed exhibition, confirming dates, venues, and legitimacy. We uncover gaps or inconsistencies that could raise questions for collectors or institutions later.
+8 HOURS
COLLECTION & ACQUISITION RESEARCH
We investigate where the artist's work resides—private collections, public institutions, corporate holdings. This reveals collector confidence and uncovers validation the artist may not have known existed.
+6 HOURS
MARKET COHERENCE ASSESSMENT
We analyze pricing history, auction records, and gallery representation to ensure market signals align with career stage. We identify unsustainable patterns or opportunities for adjustment.
+4 HOURS
PRESS & CRITICAL REVIEW ANALYSIS
We evaluate the quality and trajectory of press coverage, critical essays, and scholarly attention. We surface reviews the artist may have missed and assess whether attention is sustained or fleeting.
+4 HOURS
INSTITUTIONAL TRAJECTORY MAPPING
We chart the artist's engagement with museums, foundations, and public institutions—exhibitions, residencies, commissions, curatorial acknowledgment. We identify institutional interest the artist may not have recognized as significant.
+4 HOURS
REFERENCE & REPUTATION VERIFICATION
We conduct discreet outreach to galleries, collectors, and peers to corroborate professional standing. We gather context that never appears on a CV.
+2 HOURS
READINESS SYNTHESIS
All findings are consolidated into a comprehensive readiness assessment. We determine whether the artist meets the Nexus standard for collector and institutional engagement—and identify the specific opportunities they're best positioned for.
THE THREE-SOURCE STANDARD
Every collector in our database is verified through three independent forms of confirmation: a public record of acquisition, an institutional affiliation, and a third‑party source (interview, reference, or curator mention). This standard is adapted from journalistic fact‑checking and art advisory due diligence protocols. When we surface a collector to an artist, we've done the work to confirm they're real, active, and aligned.
“Due diligence is not optional. It is the bedrock of trust in this market. And it cannot be done cheaply or quickly. Anyone who claims otherwise is cutting corners."
— Allan Schwartzman, Curator and Collector, Artforum, 2022
“A credible third-party validation is worth more than a hundred gallery claims. It tells me someone else has done the work.”
— Pamela Joyner, Collector, Forbes, 2023
WHY THIS MATTERS
—
When we recommend an artist to you, it's not based on a single gallery's opinion or an artist's self‑assessment. It's based on 40+ hours of independent research across eight dimensions. You're not just getting a name; you're getting confidence that the artist is ready for your collection.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR COLLECTORS

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR ARTISTS
—
The Nexus Credential is not a rubber stamp. It is a rigorous validation that your practice meets the standards of serious collectors and institutions. Artists who earn the credential gain verified standing, but they also gain something else: the knowledge that we can confidently surface them to the right people at the right time.
